The group seeks to develop Utah as an innovation economy

SALT LAKE CITY – A new group combines public and private sector organizations to propel Utah further into the 21st century.

The Wasatch Innovation Network (WIN) is a statewide multisectoral group initiative to promote research, development and commercialization in the state.

The organization’s mission is to develop Utah as a global and innovative economy. WIN is also a non-profit organization that will promote the state as an international leader in technology transfer, manufacturing and marketing, as well as business support services in Utah.

“I am confident that this foundational group that we have assembled today will help us solidify Utah as an innovation capital on the world stage,” Colliers International’s Brandon Fugal said at a luncheon Tuesday. “And I look forward to building on that as we focus more on artificial intelligence and machine learning, blockchain technology, life sciences and advanced manufacturing to help not only our businesses to be successful here, but also to uplift the whole of the western United States. “

WIN also aims to connect industry to sources of capital, to connect startups to established companies and universities to the market. In addition, they want to create teams to develop and maximize Utah’s innovation ecosystem.

The founders of the group say there’s a lot going on in Utah and hope WIN will help better connect many of these ideas and businesses with funding and marketing.
